Aerosmith History
Aerosmith
Aerosmith is an American hard rock band from Boston, also known as the greatest rock and roll band in America. By giving us blues-based hard rock music, they already inspired many subsequent rock artists. The band was formed in Boston in 1970 with Joe Perry on guitar, Tom Hamilton on bass, Steven Tyler on vocal, Joey Kramer on drum, and Ray Tabano who was replaced by Brad Whitford in 1971.
Their first EP ( Eponymous debut ) has been released right a year after they were signed in Columbia Records in 1972 and followed by their first album “Get Your Wings“ in 1974, and the second album “Toys in the Attic“ in 1975. Their third album “Rocks” makes their status as hard rock superstars on 1976. However, drug addiction and internal conflict took their toll on the band, which resulted in the departures of Perry and Whitford, in 1979 and 1981 respectively. They were replaced by Jimmy Crespo and Rick Dufay. Although Perry and Whitford returned in 1984 and the band signed a new deal with Geffen Records, it was not until the band sobered up and released 1987's Permanent Vacation that they regained the level of popularity they had experienced in the 1970s. Throughout the late 1980s and 1990s, the band scored several hits and won numerous awards for music from the multi-platinum albums Pump in 1989, Get a Grip in 1993, and Nine Lives in 1997.
Their comeback has been described as one of the most remarkable and spectacular in rock 'n' roll history. After 40 years of performing, the band continues to tour and record music. The band also reached a lot of successes such as gold and multi-platinum album, four Grammy Awards, ten MTV Video Music Awards, and many more.
